The Habit of Prayer a Christ centred approach
Thursday Nov 19, 2020
Thursday Nov 19, 2020
Welcome to another episode of the We Believe Podcast with pastor A. Today we look at one habit that characterised the life of Christ on Earth.
Jesus was characterised by a HABIT of prayer throughout his ministry here on earth. For example Mark 1:35
- Before he could start his ministry, he fasted and prayed for 40 days
- In preparation for the cross he prayed 3 times
- On the cross he prayed
- He taught us to pray
- He illustrated the power of persistent prayer for justice in Luke 18
To be effective in matters of life or career. We need to look unto Jesus and do as he did. We need to also cultivate a life characterised by the habit of prayer.
Prayer is a habit because:
- discipline is required
- Commitment is required
- Consistency is required
Prayer is a Godly habit that can be cultivated. The advantage of this habit is:
- gets you to receive the attention of God
- gets you to appropriate the promises of God
- gets you to align yourself with the Will and purpose of God
- charges up your faith and transforms dreams into reality
- persistent prayer transforms you to become determined and tenacious
- Jesus wants us to watch and pray, it pleases God
- other habits that have a positive impact in our lives and ministry are birthed in prayer
- prayer has the potential to move the arm that moves the whole world
- prayer can help us achieve justice for ourselves, families, companies, colleagues and even for the poor.
The most important prayer you will ever make in your life is the prayer of salvation. That is to ask Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Saviour. That is to ask Jesus to be in charge of your life, agreeing with him that you need him to help you to steer your life to the right direction. Let us make a prayer of salvation according to Romans 10:9-10
If you have made this prayer, you are saved and therefore you are now born again, and therefore a son of God. A joint heir with Christ and therefore your life is new and God will make things around you new.

KEYS TO A REMARKABLE LIFE
A remarkable life is a life covered with the glory of God. For example Moses was so covered with the glory of God that a vail had to put on him. We are designed to manifest Gods Glory for the Glory of God.
People who are Remarkable in what they do are those who:
1 Place a premium on habits that are consistent with their purpose
- The roots of the word ‘habit’ can be found in the Latin word ‘habitus’, which translates as ‘a state of being’ or ‘condition’
- Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions (Matthew 7:20)
- Your habits are your state of being and therefore, place a premium on them
- We all don’t know how life will be tomorrow? but we all can make an input to the type of tomorrow we want through habits
- Reevaluate your habits, they define you and they tell a lot about your tomorrow
2 They are driven to be the person God has made them to be
Remarkable people know that they are born for a reason, they understand that purpose starts with God. They put God first in all they do as they become what God has called them to be.
3 and they Place a premium on the time God has given them
- How you allocate you time should be consistent with your purpose
- Not everyone or activity deserve your time
- Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days (Ephesians 5:16)
- They redeem the time, because time is an opportunity to become once more again
- Every moment is an opportunity to build a new good habit, and destroy the bad one
- Every second gives you the opportunity to build a tomorrow you want, by cultivating the habits that are consistent with your calling
- Place a premium on your time, its all you have. Don’t give it away cheap

Optimise your environment for more faith
- Make your environment a place of faith
- Make your environment a place of Grace
- Make your environment a place of hope
Building habits of faith requires a change in the environment, you need an environment where faith is natural, where the supernatural is normal. You might want to build a bubble of faith.
